Backpack Traveler is a contemporary travel blog theme and as such it offers up some quite neat features. One such feature is connecting your blog posts with destinations. This makes the content more streamlined and easily categorized.
We are, of course, referring to the destination names which are above the blog post titles in various types of blog lists, as well as on the blog single pages.
Perhaps the best example is the blog slider on our Provence homepage.
You can utilize this feature by assigning a destination to a post. You can do this from the options found on the post page.
Here’s how you can do so in just a few steps:
Step 1 - Navigate to Posts > All Posts
Step 2 - Select the post you wish to edit
Step 3 - Scroll down to Mikado Post section in Post Options
Step 4 - Set Assign Destination to this post? to Yes and pick a destination from the dropdown.
Note that you need to assign a destination to each individual post separately.
You can, of course, choose not to assign a destination to a post if you wish so. To do this simply leave or set the Assign Destination to this post? to No.
Additionally, it may be worth mentioning that aside from adding a destination link above the blog post title, assigning destinations to posts serves one more purpose – it categorizes and manages the posts which are displayed on destination archive pages.
Destination Archive Pages show all blog posts which have been assigned to a specific destination.
If you wish to exclude some posts from being displayed on a destination archive page, all you should do is not assign a destination to your post as described above.
