The ‘please wait’ error is one of the rare yet potential errors that some of the users notice during the import process, and we will show you how to fix it in this article.
In the event that during the import process you get a please wait message next to the Register Theme button, and the import process itself gets stuck at this point, here’s what you can do to solve the issue:
1. Permalinks update
First off, what you can try is to navigate to your WordPress dashboard panel, then go to Settings -> Permalinks. Here you should select the Post name option and click save. Then simply return to theme registration panel and try to activate your theme again.
2. Resetting the .htaccess file
The second option is to navigate to the root folder using an FTP Client of your choice. Once you have public_html selected you will be able to see the .htaccess file. For more on how to use an FTP client to install a theme, check this article
First off, you should download the aforementioned file to your computer as a back-up, then remove it from your server. After doing so, navigate to your WordPress dashboard and update your permalinks (as shown in step 1 of this article).
3. OVH hosting
If you are using an OVH hosting service for your site, you can simply send us a ticket or an email with a URL link to your site. Just let us know you are having this issue with theme registration and specify that you are using an OVH hosting service; we will be able to fix the problem for you.
Once we apply the fix, we will inform you. Then you can try registering the theme once more.
4. WP Rest API is disabled
Try to navigate to your site location https://www.my-site-domain.com/wp-json and check whether the WP Rest API is enabled on your side. In the event that when you attempt to do this you get the "403 Forbidden - Permission denied. Our sentries tell us that you should not be here" error, simply contact your hosting service and ask them to enable WP Rest API for your site then try to register your theme after the fact.
